Glass TV is a personal project driven by my belief that advancements in technology can offer significant benefits to today’s market. By combining innovative features with cutting-edge design, Glass TV seeks to redefine the entertainment experience. It’s more than just a television—it’s a seamless integration into modern lifestyles, offering both style and functionality. I’m excited about the potential of this project to make a lasting impact, bringing a fresh perspective to the way we consume media and interact with technology.
Phase I
One moment you’re using the TV operating streaming services like Apple, Amazon Firestick, and Google TV. The next thing you know you’re riddled with figuring out which application could access the show you want to watch. In fact, according to a Variety article, “Content Discovery Is Streaming Biggest Struggle,” users often struggle to recall which platform hosts specific shows or movies. This leads to frustration and wasted time searching across multiple apps the Accenture article states that 72% of users often become overwhelmed, which underlines our shift to the idea of GlassTV.
Phase ΙI
GlassTV and where it fits in
GlassTV is an innovative platform aggregating content from streaming services, providing customers with a seamless viewing experience. GlassTV aims to put customer satisfaction at the forefront of its solution and recommends programs based on watch history. Drawing our attention to the persona card (F1.0), Jessica Moore is a tech-savvy millennial comfortable with digital platforms and streaming services. Jessica expressed her exhaustion from searching for new shows and loves the idea of new programs to devour and consider. With Jessica in mind, GlassTV aims to build a platform that allows users to discover, manage, and enjoy content from multiple sources without switching between apps.

Adding an extra step
Compared to competitors in the industry, apps are not user-based and are mostly hosting outlets turning a blind eye to user satisfaction. As referenced in the process map (F1.1), I want to illustrate the focus on choosing an account before entering the app. This step lets the customer interact with applications using the provided email address. For example, if my email for my Netflix account is johndoe1234@gmail.com then the application should be automatically populated in my recently watched section in the “For you” page of the platform for every application using the same email. In parallel, the “For you” page will show a “Suprise me” section depicting new programs to watch across downloaded platforms.

Phase ΙII
Navigation Tree
In hopes of generating a suitable experience, I wanted to make GlassTV an application where you can also shop for services and manage the UI and the overall interaction of the navigation. For example, the navigation tree (F1.2) is broken into four buckets: For You, Marketplace, My Purchases, and Settings screens. Each bucket has its specific purpose for the “For You” page the priority is to limit choices displaying recently watched and preferred applications. The “Marketplace” is a shopping forum where users can download streaming services and purchase movies, TV shows, and games. While the “My Purchases” page emphasizes the products you purchased on the account. As for settings, the screen design is sectioned into two halves, where one half is focused on products like set-up boxes and remotes. There are multiple options giving users the creative liberty to control their own experience. Now, here is the good part! The “My Purchases” screen will not only download purchases but also display subscriptions. This is where you manage and edit applications and gather insight on renewal or cancelation dates. This feature enables users to finally manage and renew applications they love and cancel plans they no longer enjoy.

More differentiating features
A helpful feature in the app is the notifications button, which alerts users and helps them stay on top of existing subscriptions. Notifications will be segmented into three tiers red means urgent and yellow would need attention (F1.3). As we dive deeper into the product, users can see the option to minimize shows/movies to the bottom right of the screen, enabling a seamless viewing experience with the last interacted program. You’re probably wondering how do you sign up. Easy! We enabled a signup feature through your favorite social devices like Facebook, Google, and Apple.
Phase IV
In this direct-to-consumer market, Glass TV aims to revolutionize the product streaming experience by targeting pain points like subscription management, customizable UI, and content discovery. With the growth of AI and technology, GlassTV is a fun and refreshing platform shining a light on areas of improvement in the streaming service industry.
